“We’re all right man. Everybody chill the fuck out.”
These were the words Adrien Broner (27-1) said in his corner after the second round, where he got knocked down for the first time in his career by Marcos Maidana (35-3, 31 KO). Things weren’t all right, however, and never got quite comfortable throughout the fight for Broner. You read right. In a huge upset, Maidana gave Broner his first professional career loss in a decision victory (115-110, 116-109 and 117-109).
Maidana was on him from the get go with a harsh amount of pressure throughout the opening rounds. Broner never really got quite used to the more awkward nature of Maidana’s punches and found himself getting tagged an awful lot more than he has in his career. Now Broner is going to have an excellent time swallowing his words following all the trash talk he’s been spewing throughout his career.
Despite the blemish on his record, it looks like Floyd Mayweather Jr. is still supporting Broner He posted the below picture after the fight with a caption saying, “@AdrienBroner hold your head up champ. I love you. A true champion can take a loss and bounce back, my lil brother”:
MALIGNAGGI SAYS BRONER HAS NO GAME TO BE BRAGGING ABOUT TAKING HIS “WEEKEND Pu$$y”..
Meanwhile, after the fight, boxing reporter Radio Rahim staked out a space outside Broner’s dressing room along with an awaiting ambulance that took Broner to a local hospital for a checkup after his stunning loss to Marcos Maidana.
