In devastating fashion Chris Weidman defended the UFC middle weight ti*tle against future” hall of famer” Anderson Silva. The first round was very much like the last fight. Weidman was controlling the clinch and on the ground holding the top position. Weidman was so close to finishing Silva, when he delivered a crushing right hook in the clinch that dropped Silva but he was able to recover and make it to the second round.
The second round ended quickly after trading a few exchanges. Silva went to trow an inside leg kick but the “all american” was quick enough to block the kick with his knee, breaking Silvas leg above the ankle. This is not the first time this type of injury has happened in the UFC octagon.
The rematch was anticlimactic but it proved that the first fight was no fluke and that Weidman is the real deal with an undefeated record of 11-0. Silva is 38 years old and might not be able to come back after recovering. Only time will tell if we will ever see “the spider” back in the cage.
