Destiny’s Child separated 14 years ago, and since then, many people have wondered whether the members of the famous group are still in touch. Moreover, the question of whether their relationship is as strong as it has been in the past has been present throughout the years.
The paths of the three ladies have been different, some moved on to new careers, some became mothers, but the important thing is that they have remained close, and supported each other during all this time.
Beyoncé and Kelly’s friendship has a long history
Even before Beyoncé and Kelly become band mates, they were friends who spent their days dreaming of becoming singers. Soon after this, they found themselves in a dancing and rapping group called Girl’s Tyme.
Their relationship became even stronger when Kelly went through some family issues and moved to Beyoncé’s house. Furthermore, Kelly stated that she has many beautiful memories from that period and that she will cherish those moments forever.
The fact that Kelly and Beyoncé are the same age makes their strong and close bond even more understandable.
As Kelly told Marie Claire: “Bey and I met at rehearsals for [the girl group] Girl’s Tyme when we were nine. We were both singing our butts off, and she was impressed I knew all the words to Whitney Houston’s ‘I’m Your Baby Tonight.’” She then went on explaining the complexity of their strong bond: “We grew up in this industry together; we’ve shared ups and downs, and we are closer than ever. I can tell her anything, and she’ll never judge me. She’s a real friend: genuine, loyal, and trustworthy. She’s also one of the sweetest people you ever did meet.”
Despite their busy schedules and gigantic careers, both of them gives their best to keep in touch and spend as much time with each other.
Beyoncé is Michelle’s motivator
Many considered Michelle Williams as the third wheel in Destiny’s Child. People often spoke about how Michelle does not seem to fit in and how she is not very close to the girls. However, after the years, and all the success Destiny’s Child has reached, Michelle became more than best friends with Beyoncé and Kelly – they became sisters.
Michelle opened up about it on one occasion, saying that “We’re honored to be there for each other in our happy moments. I’ve never really had genuine female relationships until I met them. I don’t care what anyone says; we miss each other. We have that spiritual bond with each other where we know when you’re really tired, you need your sister with you today, or you just need a phone call to let them know you’re thinking about them. I call them my soulmates.”
Kelly, Michelle, and Beyoncé keep in touch all the time
Despite people’s skepticism about the ability to keep in touch with old friends, while having such busy schedules, these three ladies have managed to maintain a close bond. They are in contact all the time!
It doesn’t matter if they call each other just to check-in, or in need of advice, or encouragement, they talk very often.
Kelly even talked about it in the interview she gave to Australian Vogue, back in 2018: “Like all the time. Every week. We talk, literally. We are truly sisters. They are my sisters. I talk to them; I seek advice from them, I call them when I need them, when I don’t need them I call them when I want a girl’s night. I call them for everything.”
Given the fact that their relationship is so strong, it is reasonable to conclude that they provide support to each other during milestones, such as weddings or childbirth, as well.
When talking about milestones, Beyoncé has invited Michelle and Kelly on stage during some of the biggest performances of her career. For example, last year’s Coachella was rather significant. In other words, Beyoncé was the first black women to headline this festival. Guess who was on the stage by her side, sharing this epic moment with her? Her sisters – Michelle and Kelly.
To sum up, this strong bond Beyoncé, Kelly and Michelle share is indeed one of a kind. Despite the fact that Destiny’s Child no longer exists, these three ladies remain close and true friends.
