However, the exact location and dates for the contest have not yet been announced by the ESL, as they have yet to reveal their Pro Tour circuit for the upcoming year.

Brief Intro About the Tournament
As mentioned above, ESL has announced the return of IEM to Rio de Janeiro in the 2024 competitive season, following the great success of the IEM Rio Major in 2024. Let’s take a look at what we can expect from the event this time around.
Format
The IEM is a professional CS:GO contest that is split into two phases: the Group Stage and the Playoffs. The Group Stage features 16 teams competing for a prize pool of $250,000, which is smaller than the number of teams that participate in a Major event.
A total of 16 teams will be divided into 2 groups and will compete in a double-elimination bracket. Opening matches are Best of 1, while all following games are Best of 3.
During the Playoff Stage, teams will be seeded accordingly and proceed to compete in Bo3 matches:
- The top-placed teams from each group advance to the Semifinals.
- The second place squads move to the Quarterfinals as the High Seeds.
- Group stage third place squads move to the Quarterfinals as the Low Seeds.
In the playoffs, the matches will follow a single-elimination format, in which the losing team is eliminated and the winning team moves on. There will be three pairs of teams facing off, with the winners advancing to the Grand Final and the losers being eliminated. The Grand Final will be a Best of 5 match.
Part of the Intel Grand Slam
The IEM Spring in Brazil is also an important event because it will be counted as one of the IGS season events. The latter is a competition where a team can win a prize of $1,000,000 if they are the first to win four events.
As with the previous https://cover.gg/matches/finished results, FaZe is on the verge of winning the fourth Intel Grand Slam, with three victories already at Katowice 2024, Pro League season 15, and Cologne 2024. Outsiders, Vitality, and Cloud9 also each have a win.
The inclusion of the IEM Spring event in Brazil in the fourth season of the Intel Grand Slam is yet to be determined. The decision will be made by FaZe during the forthcoming IEM events in Katowice 2024 and Pro League season 17.
Playerbase and Fanbase in Brazil
Given the success of the IEM Rio Major, it is not surprising that the Brazilian fan base is pushing for more events to be held in the country. This led us to consider the proportion of Brazilian fans and professional players representing the country, and the results were surprising.
Playerbase
According to research from Leetify on over 7 million MM players, Brazil has a player base of approximately 5%, making it one of the top countries in the world for the game. Brazilian players have been identified in several clubs, including Luminosity Gaming, SK, Immortals, and MIBR. Famous players like Gabriel Toledo “FalleN” have also contributed to the popularity of CS:GO in Brazil and have inspired their fellow Brazilian fans to support the game.
Fanbase
The enthusiasm displayed by the Brazilian crowd has been unparalleled and has set a new record for the discipline, making it the second most watched competition in the history of CS.
Of course, the South American audience played a key role in the success of the IEM Rio, which was the first Major to have an audience of over 3,500 fans per day during both the Challengers and Legends stages at Riocentro. The event also generated excitement among esports fans around the world, with over 68 million hours of viewing and a historic peak of 1 million during the Challengers Stage, making it the most followed ESL event in the world.
