Tyler, the Creator appeared on last night’s episode of The Arsenio Hall Show, but he didn’t perform. Rather, the Odd Future HNIC sat down — or, laid down — and spoke to Arsenio about a variety of topics, including Tyler’s decision to not drink or use drugs; his criticism toward the YouTube Music Awards; and Odd Future’s carnival, Camp Flog Gnaw, which takes place in Los Angeles this weekend.
Tyler was also asked about his usage of explicit language, to which he replied: “You can take a power out of that word. The way I see things, you chose to be offended if you care more about stuff like that. That may sound ignorant, but if you’re a black person and you get offended… but if I know that I’m not an ‘n-word’, I’m not going to get offend. Frank [Ocean]‘s gay and I use that word all the time and he doesn’t care, because he knows me. He knows when I say that word I’m not thinking of his se*ual orientation.”
Lastly, Tyler was asked whether he follows politics and his opinion on President Barack Obama. “I don’t really get into it, because I like doing fun stuff,” he replied. “But I realized, he’s an ‘n-word’ who figured it out.”
